Hi Alison, Great advice with memorable tips. Seems that a query letter isn’t much different from a job application cover letter: show that you’ve done your research and that what you have to offer fits what the entity is looking for.
A friend of mine is an agent. She told me many people don’t bother reading her bio and what genre she is looking for. If you don’t, you will find yourself sending a cookbook to an agent looking for young adult romance. A waste of time for everyone.
Great reminder that that we all need to get by the assistant first.
Thank you for sharing!!
