Kat Holmes I encounter mismatched accessible design regularly. Showers are designed to ADA code with controls that are set too far away from the seat for someone who can’t stand and therefore can’t reach them; no bed heights are mandated so an ADA room becomes unusable if a bed is too high or low( the beds should lower and raise to allow accessibility), accessible parking is located on a hill which creates safety issues while entering and leaving one’s car. . . The list goes goes on and on. The worst is wheelchair design. Thank you for your thoughtful article.
