Adam’s Story

Adam and Eve lived in harmony in a cottage in the middle of Eden. Each day they’d work hard tending the land. At night they’d relax by strolling through the gardens and meditating on their day. They’d make love after preparing a delightful meal together, then snuggle down to read a book before floating off to sleep.

Paradise.

Then one day Eve brought home an Apple. It mesmerized her with its sheen. She started spending more and more hours staring at her Apple than her love. At first Adam didn’t mind. Everyone needs their space— even in Paradise. But as the days wore thin and the nights thinner, the Apple got under Adam’s skin.

Everywhere they went, the Apple went to. It was the first thing Eve touched in the morning and the last thing she held in the evening.

Adam soon discovered that a blue light emitted from the Apple’s core and snaked its way into Eve’s brain. She stopped sleeping. Adam would often wake to find Eve communing with the Apple. Plotting away at something.

Paradise was troubled and in trouble. Adam couldn’t manage it alone. He begged Eve to put the Apple away. But the more he asked, the more she resisted. She began to resent him.
